Originating from a friendly collaboration between institutions of higher education in China and Thailand, the Asian University Presidents Forum was officially established in 2002 to include higher education institutions across Asia. Since then, the forum has been held annually in different Asian countries and has fostered relationships and cooperation among participating institutions. In fact, cooperation is at the heart of the mission of the forum, whose mission is to “Increase Communication, Exchange Information, Share Experience and Seek Common Development.”
Today, we are currently facing the era of “Disruption.” In line with this development, the 2018 Asian University Presidents Forum (AUPF) which will be held on 6-8 November 2018 chooses to highlight the phenomenon of “Disruption” in its main theme. “Leaders in education need to identify the potentials of disruptive technologies for their benefit in order to avert the disruptive powers of these technologies,” the Rector of Petra Christian University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djwantoro Hardjito, M.Eng., emphasized.
Petra Christian University (PCU) will host the forum that brings together the leaders of higher education institutions from all over Asia. This forum will be attended by approximately 200 delegations consisting of university presidents and accompanying officials from more than 100 higher education institutions in Asia. With the theme “Disruption at the Cross Roads: Innovative Engagement and Future Challenges for Higher Education,” Petra Christian University has prepared a series of events during the forum that are not only interesting, but will also generate thoughtful and fruitful discussions as well as networking opportunities for the participants.
The 2018 AUPF Meeting will be held in two locations, namely Petra Christian University campus and Sheraton Surabaya Hotel and Towers. The Opening Ceremony, Plenary Session, Talk Show, and the Parallel Sessions will take place at Petra Christian University campus. Afterwards, the Gala Dinner and Token Exchange, MoU Signing, and Closing & Hand-Over Ceremony will be at Sheraton Surabaya Hotel and Towers.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Prof. Ainun Na’im, Ph.D., The Secretary General of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia.
